Every device, connection, or rack in your project diagrams is considered a resource. As your project continues to develop over time, it can get difficult to keep track of all of them. Sheets gives you a tabular view of all resources in your project where you can organize and edit properties directly from the sheets. Filter a sheet down to exactly what you need, then edit it like a spreadsheet. Sheets stay in sync with your diagram, so every change you make in your project will be reflected in these sheets.
Start with default sheets
Every new project comes with three default sheets: Devices, Wired Connections and Wireless Connections. These are pre-configured sheets that are filtered to only show their specified resource. As you add devices and connections to your diagram, they appear in the corresponding sheet automatically. These default sheets can be edited further, or copied as a template for your own sheets.
Create and manage sheets
If you have Edit access to the project, creating a new sheet is as simple as clicking "New Sheet" in the bottom-left corner. A new sheet starts unfiltered, showing every resource in your project with all of its properties. That's handy for a quick look at your project data, but it can feel overwhelming. Don't worry, you can quickly set up each sheet the way you need it.
To rename a sheet, hover over its name in the list and click the pencil. If you find yourself using specific sheets very often, you can also pin it to the top of the list. Use the "Duplicate" and "Delete" buttons at the bottom to copy or remove a sheet.
Filter a sheet
Located at the top toolbar, you can use any of the three filter items: Type, Area, or Tag to filter your current sheet. Click a filter item and check the values you want to filter by, then click "Apply". The Type filter is special where you can filter by specific devices or connections if you expand the dropdown to the right of the resource.
Filtering by Area shows only the resources inside that area in the Topology diagram. Move a device into or out of the area in Topology, and the sheet will update automatically to match. Likewise, filtering by Tags will show only resources that match the specified tag.
Choose and arrange columns
Each column is a property of the resources in your sheet. Click "Columns" to show or hide columns, or drag them to change their order. Most of the time, you'll only want the columns that have values in them. Select "Non-empty" to show just those and hide any unused properties. You can also open the menu on any column header within the sheet to hide, move or add columns from there.
Selecting and editing sheet cells
Within a sheet, you can click a cell and enter text to change its property value. Property changes will sync straight back to your diagram. You can confirm this by double clicking the resource in your diagram to see it has been updated from the sheet cell. To fill the same value or sequence down a column, drag the handle in the corner of selected cell(s), or double-click it.
Like in a spreadsheet, you can click and drag across cells to select a block of them. D3M Sheets support copying your selection and pasting it into other spreadsheet tools, and vice versa: you can also copy spreadsheet cells and paste them directly into your D3M Sheets. Note that some columns in sheets are non-editable, so their values cannot be updated through sheets.
