D3M provides a basic header and footer for your documents, but sometimes you need extra customization to make your documents look more polished and professional. This article walks through what the basic offerings are and how to customize headers and footers to get your document looking just how you want it.
Basic header
The basic header for a document consists of the customer name and project name in the top right corner, and your uploaded document logo in the top left. If you do not see a logo in the top left, organization admins can upload a logo under the Documents Logo setting here:
Basic footer
The basic footer for a document shows the text: Property of (Your Organization Name).
Hiding headers and footers on a single page
You can easily hide and show headers and footers on individual pages.
Custom header
You can customize headers of documents and templates by uploading an image to be used in place of the basic header.
Notice that you can also adjust the margins of the page to force the content of the page to start below your header.
Custom footer
Just like custom headers, you can upload an image to use as the footer of your document.
Tips when using footers
When trying to create your image, the size of image is important. Generally 96px will equate to 1 inch, so if you are using letter size paper, in portrait, and want a header that fills 1 inch from the top of the page, you would need an image that is 816px by 96px.
Currently, if your header and footer images overlap your content, the images will appear over top of your page content when you generate PDFs. One way to help with this is to use transparency in your image anywhere you might have a white background.
Header and footer images will always resize to fill the width of the page. If you do not want your image to bleed right to the edge of the page, you can adjust your image so that it has a transparent border around it.
